A Perfect Starting Point for OO

This is one of my top tech books, and I've passed along / recommended it more than once. Keep in mind that title: "Learning". This will not carry you end-to-end through C#, nor will it be the all-encompassing reference for the C# programmer who wants to keep up to speed. Instead, the audience is the new programmer, or the procedural programmer new to OO. When I think back to my first introduction to OO (a Java 1.0 boot-camp-styled course that made my brain spin in its casing), I wish I'd had this book: it's nicely paced, it begins at the beginning, and it gets you on your feet in regards to knowing how to program in the language.

Note that this review is for this edition of the book, but newer editions have since been released. I still recommend the book, and its approach, to anyone new to OO in general or C# in particular. Get started here, then dig deeper with the Bible-sized tomes if you need.

Author support is amazing!

I cruised through the first seven chapters, but I got bogged down in the eighth. So I went to the author's Delphi forum and posted a couple of questions. Received four answers promptly, two by JL himself. And he even apologized (!) for being less than perfect.
Yeah, the book is intelligent, well organized, entertaining, blah blah...but who cares? With this kind of support from the author, you are just about guaranteed success.

Do not buy this book. It's free on the Internet.

This author has hundreds of books under the name examville, e staff and quick review notes. He gets most all of his material from the Internet and often cuts and pastes the material from websites without changing anything at all. He's been scamming people for at least three years as his earliest books seem to be from 2011. I doubt that there's an actual Examville "staff". It's probably the same person publishing all of the books who has managed to make thousands of dollars in the last three years from copying websites that people can use for free.

Accurate transcriptions of one of rocks greatest albums

I primarily bought this book to learn "Ladies Night In Buffalo" and "Bump and Grind" but it's awesome to have transcriptions of "Shy Boy", "Tobacco Road", etc. It would have been nice to have some images interspersed throughout or some gear suggestions, but its also good that this book is "all business"!

This book contains very accurate transcriptions of some of Steve Vai's best performances and David Lee Roth's greatest songs!

THIS IS SPECIFIC TO THE DIGITAL KINDLE VERSION. It's worthless to buy it on kindle because the app sucks on my galaxy note and iPhone. The real kindle its ok. The actual book totally rules. It's super accurate and has Bump and Grind which was the main reason for me buying it. If you want to learn these songs then buy this book, but just don't do it digitally.

A Great series of biographies

This is an excellent series of biographies for children. Full of interesting facts, easy and enjoyable to read, and great for whetting the appetite to read further. It is just a pity that there isn't a UK equivalent series, I can think of lots more people that it would be nice to read about. The whole format is very attractive and the books bring the people to life. My grandchildren, ranging fro 8 to 11 all love them, and so do I !!!

The book not only teaches but also traps the reader. It gives kids a big picture of Newton's discoveries and of his time. I highly recommend it.
