A sweet murder/mystery

Annie & Flynn are so cute. He is pretty perfect, but in this one we get to see him losing his cool a bit when more if his past comes to haunt him.

It's fun to watch Annie challenge herself to work through the various manifestations of her mental illness. And while the main mystery is tied up there are enough loose ends in Annie's life to make me curious about the next book.

He Scores-A Joyfully Recommended Title!!

Growing up in a little town, Terry Donaldson put up with a lot from his peers. In seventh grade, when his crush was revealed, he was cruelly dubbed "Terry the Fairy". His one salvation was when Eve moved to town. She was also teased when she excelled in Science and Math, showing up the class scholars and being just a little too big, even though pretty, to be accepted into the "IN" crowd. She and Terry became the best of friends and did everything together, including making plans to leave Norwich as soon as graduation was over. Taking a summer job at the local diner kept them in town just a little longer than planned when a bit of excitement came in to the little town of Norwich.

Terry had yet to experience his first real kiss or truly fall in love, yet when hockey star "The Flash", Adrian Vincent, comes to town and turns his world upside down. Terry quickly falls completely under Adrian's spell. Adrian however, is hung up on his first love who treats him horribly.

He Scores is one the of best M/M stories I've read. The characters are well developed and I felt like I really got to know them. The plot time line is written in a manner that it is believable. D.J. Manly creates a very realistic story so as the characters feel anguish, happiness and love; you experience it with them as well. I love a story that gives hope, to believe that somewhere out there, true love is being found. I Joyfully Recommend He Scores as a must read as it brims with hope and joy for all us hopeless M/M romantics out there.

Terry lived in a little town in Canada. Even if Canada could be a little more open than other country, being gay in a little town is the same all over the world. And so Terry is the object of all the bad jockes in high school. He is only waiting to be eighteen years old and to leave for Toronto and the anonymity he will find and a big city.

And then Adrian, a twenty years old hockey player, young but just a champion, comes in town. He has inherited an old house just outside the town and wants to renovate it. And Adrian is a good guy, gentle and friendly, and gay... And so the last summer for Terry in his hometown could be also his first summer as "man" while he discovers love in the arms of Adrian.

But Adrian is not out and he cannot be out to the risk of losing his professional carreer and he has also a destructive relationship with a teammate that he claims to love. Adrian is very clear and open with Terry, for him it could be only friendship between them and sex, yes, but not love. Between the two, even if Adrien is more sexually experienced, it is Terry who is the more mature in understanding his feelings. It's Terry who accepts what he can have from Adrian, and it's Terry who asks forgiveness to Adrian when his feeling becomes too strong (!!!) and it's Terry who sees clearly how Pierre, Adrian's lover, really is.

D.J. Manly is very "male" in his stories. When I read one of his novel I always feel that the characters are driving first by their bodies and then by their heart. Love without sex is not taken in consideration and the way he describes his "men" is always very physical. And as always his novel flows smoothly and in a bit, and in the end you will want more.

A delightful modern day fairy tale

I would give this a four star instead of five simply because it was far too short but that wouldn't be fair. I realize it was a novella but it ended too soon! We have all been entranced by fairy tales since we were children. This is a version for those of us a little older, but just as delightful. The characters are fun and believable with all the quirks and problems of our modern day world, but they still have the desires and needs of those characters we loved in the storybooks. The setting was a believable invented country that I'd love to visit in person instead of vicariously. The description was just enough to whet your appetite but not overcome the story. I can't wait for more of this - I believe it will be a series, as it should be. Readers will want more of these characters. Well done, Rachel Branton!

Fun romantic

This is a kindle world that is The Royals of Monterra from the book Royal Date by Sariah Wilson.

It is a novella. Only 93 pages. Wish it were longer though it does a nice job. it is romantic, funny and charming.

Amelia Lennox is working as a maid at the Lodge Royal. She has found out that she has a half sister who now is Queen of Monterra. Amelia has no other family.

Davide Ciano meets Amelia and is drawn to her right off. He has had bad experiences with women just wanting him for his title or money so he is planning to hide that he is a rich duke from her at first.

I loved the scene with them all riding in the woods. I admit I laughed a lot with them. Also liked the ball scenes.

I would read more books from Rachel Branton in the future.

For Anyone Who Loves Romance

This one was a really good contemporary romance where Amelia has come to Monterra to try to meet her long-lost sister and ends up meeting Davide. She is attracted to him, and they start to act on their feelings, but he's keeping a secret about who he really is, just as she doesn't mention who her sister really is. The romance is so good that I was flipping pages as fast as I could to see if they could survive the secrets coming out. Ms. Branton has written three-dimensional characters that were realistic and fun, with a hero and heroine you can't help but cheer on to a happy ending. Loved it!
