Roy Wahres learnt the game of chess as a child. He joined his highschool chess club and placed in statewide competition in the late 80's and early 90's. His interest in teaching the game emerged in 2002 with online chess. He is currently a club player with a rating of Expert. Since 2007, Mr. Wahres has worked as a process consultant for major national corporations in the service industry.

Is Mr. Wahres a Fraud?

There is no publicly posted United State Chess Federation rating for Roy J Wahres. If Mr. Wahres was truly rated an "Expert" he'd have a public rating. It appears to be yet another case of a low-caliber amateur writing a school term paper about chess, slapping a fancy cover w/a catchy title on it, and selling it to the public. There are few if any true chess books worth their salt that are less than 80 pages long. Most legitimate chess books are at least 140 pages and many are over 200 pages long.

Don't be fooled by imitators! If you want good books on the thought process of chess, you should buy real books by authentic authors named Chernev, Euwe, Horowitz, Hartston, Harding, Heisman, Lane, Lasker, McDonald, Purdy, Weeramantry, etc. These are legitimate authors who know the subject of chess well, having devoted much of their adult life to the game.

I'll go to the trouble of recommending this short list by Irving Chernev: Read the first three books in order three times each to get the fundamentals down.
- An Invitation to Chess: A Picture Guide to The Royal Game, by Irving Chernev and Kenneth Harkness.
- Chess in an Hour by Frank Marshall and Irving Chernev. (Be sure to get the second version which Chernev updated.)

The Divorce Express

The book I read was called The Divorce Express. It's about a girl name Pheobe whose parents didn't start getting along until they got a divorce when she was thirteen. Now that she's fourteen she spends the weekend with her father in woodstock New York ,and commutes on the bus called the ''Divorce Express'' for weekends with her mother in New York city.

It seems to me that joint custody means alot to Phoebe, because her parents are not together. Phoebe hates the fact that she has to deal with all the crisesin both of her parents lives. Phoebe's life improves when she meet a girl name Rosie who becomes her friend. Phoebe meets Rosie in Woodstock where her dad lives. Also her life changes when a boy named Dave that she had a crush on for years while going to visit her dad ask to date her. Just when phoebe thinks she got everything under control ,her mother announces that she's getting married.

Yes, I would recommand this book to other readers, because it's helping others who want to learn about marriage in the future.

Divorce-Express-Reading Marathon

This title may seem a little weird for you but I'm going to explain why it's called Divorce-Express-Reading Marathon... Well, when I started reading this book I thought it would be kind of boring, but when I read about Phoebe's story I couldn't stop reading! Instead of taking a week to read this book I took 2 to 3 days, and I was traveling! Imagine if I wasn't... Well, there are a few reasons that made me love this book so much. First of all, I loved the story. It is about a girl named Phoebe that has divorced parents and lives with her father in Woodstock while her mother lives in New York. She makes lots of new friends in Woodstock, and together they organize a protest to improve the cafeteria food of their school. She also has to confront lots of problems during the story, including her mother getting married to another guy... Well, I think I already told too much of the story, and to know the rest you'll just have to read this awesome book!! Enjoy!

The Divorce Express

I enjoyed The divorce Express very much. When Phoebe's parents got divorced, she was forced to ride a bus which was nick-named the Divorce Express because of all of the children riding to and from their seperated parent's homes. On the bus, Phoebe met a girl named Rosie Wison. The two girls became good friends not only on the Divorce Express, but in school also. After living with her mother, Phoebe moved in with her father, Jim. Jim lived in Woodstock and Phoebe didn't like the idea of moving in with him. Yet after a while of getting used to it, she didn't seem to mind it one bit. She participated when her school decided to take action when they could no longer stand the lunches they were being served in the cafeteria, she made a lot of frineds, and really began to fit in. Rosie helped a lot. Phoebe was also very fond of Rosie's mother Mindy. Jim and Mindy had met several times and also got along very well. Then, just when everything was in her life was going just right, Phoebe's mother announced thar she was going to get married to a man that Phoebe didn't like at all. I have to stop here and not give away the ending. The divorce Express was a very good book. It only took me a week to read it and i just couldn't put it down. I hope you will enjoy this book just as much as I did.

About the Author
Professor Emeritus of Economics at Texas A&M University. He spent 30 years in the Department of Economics at Texas A&M, where he served as Department Head from 1977 through 1981, and held the Rex B. Grey University Professorship of Free Enterprise from 1981 through 1985. Professor Maurice published numerous articles on microeconomic theory in the top economic journals. He co-wrote two scholarly books on natural resource depletion: The Doomsday Myth and The Economics of Mineral Extraction. He also wrote with Charles Ferguson, and later Owen Phillips, the widely used intermediate level microeconomics textbook Economic Analysis, which was published from 1971 to 1996. Professor Maurice retired to Gainesville, Florida, where he lived until his death in the Spring of 1999.

Currently associate professor of economics at University of South Florida. He worked for two years as an energy economist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory before joining the faculty at USF in 1982. He now teaches managerial economics at the undergraduate level and in two executive training programs, a traditional Executive MBA program and an Executive MBA program for physicians that draws doctors nationwide. Professor Thomas has published numerous articles on government regulation of industry and antitrust issues in Quarterly Journal of Economics, Journal of Law and Economics, Southern Economic Journal, Journal of Economics and Business, Quarterly Review of Economics and Business, and Journal of Economic Education. He serves as a policy associate at the Center for Economic Policy Analysis at University of South Florida. Professor Thomas lives with his wife and daughter in Tampa, Florida, where he enjoys playing tennis.

No ISBN and weird contents in package

There was a wire, and bluetooth earpiece oddly included in my package- it was kind of gross. Also, the book was re-bound and the page that should have included the ISBN was not there so I cannot check if it is the exact book I need. There should have been a note or description about this before placing the order.

Bought one for me and one for my husband.

We are each filling in the book as a gift for each other for next Christmas. We thought it would be fun to get each others own personal take on our story than to fill out one book together. We have been married 40 years and so are very thankful for the prompts, or suggestions to help us scratch up the memories that have been somewhat fogged over with 40 years of all the other stuff that happens in life. But this would make a great wedding gift to because the couple (or get one for each spouse) can fill it in as they go along, then they would not have to recall, each emotion would be right there as they added to their story.
Here are some of the prompts from the book, there are over 150 questions that are well thought out and help record your romance.
Section One: Getting to know You, Tying the knot, Starting out together.
"Before I met you my love life was...."
"On our first date we...."
"These things symbolized our growing love (special song, place, poem, etc..."
"These are some of the reactions we got when announcing our engagement (and wedding date...)
" Our ________ anniversary was particularly memorable because...."
The first section continues on with questions to answer about settling into your marriage, dealing with differences in personalities and ideals, learning to support each other, special traditions you established for holidays. The real getting comfy with each other stuff that all marriages grow through.
Section Two of the Book deals with The Middle Years;
things like raising the kids together, ways your spouse raised the kids that you really appreciated, special vacations, explaining the ways your relationship evolved over the years, house projects to recall, special things you enjoyed doing together and loads more.
The last section is called The Later Years
One of my personal favorite questions in this section is---" After all these years, I learned this new aspect of you"
There are questions about getting used to retirement, hobbies you enjoyed together , stuff you did with your grandkids, these are the qualities that you have that I love most, ways you helped me grow and supported me. The last Question in the book asks if we were to give this Book of Us our own title what would it be.
This book is a chance to preserve the love of your life to hand down to your kids, a legacy of your lives and marriage. A painless way to record your story. And I love how it reminds me of wonderful moments spent together as I write and reread what I write.
And, well, if you are a romantic you will love this book and what it represents even more. Not 5 stars because recording memories in written word can be more difficult for some than others which means this is not a one size fits all way of recording your marriage memories. If you love to write you will appreciate this wonderful tool for what it is.

Best 50th anniversary gift

This is now my go to 50th anniversary gift The couples have fun going to the questions and remembering the very beginning of the relationship It then becomes a wonderful sentimental gift for their family And while there is plenty of room to write sometimes these questions spark longer stories than others so I always give it with a beautiful journal and gift pens

However the best way that I thought to use these books was with my parents and my in-laws I knew neither couple would bothered to finish the book So I emailed the questions a little bit at a time over several weeks They had fun having the discussions and formulating the answers together

When they were done I cut-and-pasteed iall their answers into a word document being careful to try to leave as much of their language as possible so it sounded like them talking and not me I added pictures from their past, Lyrics from songs during the era , Scanned in their marriage licenses Etc.

I then printed out these books and put them in binders from Walmart. Added pretty covers in the view. Embellished with ribbon. And those books were my anniversary gift to them Basically turned out to be their life story short but sweet Both couples were beyond thrilled.
I also made one for each one of my brothers and sisters so now the grandchildren can read all about their grandparents and how they met.

This journal is just what it says about it's a book about the marriage. it's not meant to spark a lot of questions to enhance your marriage. it's not a therapy tool. It is more of a genealogy Tool.

Wonderful anniversary present

I bought this for my husband on our 1 year wedding anniversary. We had a lot of fun flipping through it and filling out what we could right now. I love that you can fill this out as the years come and go and it doesn't all have to be right now! Includes things for future children, what your relationship was like at the beggining, etc. Very cute book I'm sure our children and grandchildren will enjoy looking at.
